Enter your contact details, experience, education, skills and projects while the preview updates beside the form. DraftFort creates a real text-based PDF in your browser—no account, watermark or document-processing server.

Draft saving on this device is off by default for new visitors. Enable it only if you want this browser to retain the form after the page closes. On a shared computer, leave it off or use Reset to remove the saved personal draft and restore the blank starting point.

How to create and check your résumé

  1. Add only the contact details an employer needs to reach you.
  2. Write a short target-role headline and summary based on the job you are applying for.
  3. Add experience in reverse chronological order and put one truthful achievement per line.
  4. Include relevant education, skills, licences, links and projects.
  5. Choose Letter for common US/Canadian workflows or A4 where that is expected.
  6. Review the live preview, download the PDF and run the plain-text check below.
  7. Follow the job advertisement if it requires a different format or naming convention.

What you can add

  • Contact details and links (LinkedIn, portfolio, GitHub)
  • A tailored professional summary
  • Work experience with achievement bullet points
  • Education, skills, and optional projects
  • Letter or A4 paper size

What “ATS-readable” means—and what it does not promise

Applicant tracking systems differ by employer and vendor. DraftFort reduces common parsing risks by using one reading column, ordinary section names and selectable text instead of turning the résumé into a picture. It does not issue an “ATS score,” predict a hiring decision or guarantee that every system will interpret every field identically.

Run a one-minute plain-text check

  1. Open the downloaded PDF in your normal PDF reader.
  2. Select all text, copy it and paste it into a plain-text editor.
  3. Confirm that your name, contact details, headings, employers, dates and bullets appear once and in a sensible order.
  4. Check that no important information exists only as decoration or an image.

This does not reproduce a particular employer’s ATS, but it catches a fundamental failure: text that cannot be selected or appears in a confusing reading order.

Turn responsibilities into evidence

Use a simple structure: action + task + result + context. Include a number only when it is true and meaningful.

Weak starting point Stronger, evidence-led version
Responsible for customer support Resolved an average of 35 customer cases per day while maintaining the team’s documented quality target
Helped with monthly reporting Rebuilt the monthly reporting checklist, reducing preparation time by 3 hours per cycle

The examples demonstrate structure; they are not facts to copy. Replace the role, scope and result with evidence from your own work. Canada’s Job Bank recommends highlighting accomplishments, keeping writing clear and using action verbs in its official résumé guidance.

Tailor the document without keyword stuffing

Compare the job advertisement with your résumé. Bring genuinely relevant skills, qualifications and examples closer to the top, and use the employer’s terminology when it accurately describes your experience. Do not paste a hidden keyword block or claim a tool you have never used.

Workforce Australia similarly recommends a simple professional layout, relevant keywords and tailoring the résumé for the job in its résumé guidance.

Leave sensitive identifiers out

A résumé needs enough information for a legitimate employer to contact and assess you; it normally does not need government identifiers, banking details or payment information. Canada’s Job Bank specifically warns job seekers not to provide items such as a Social Insurance Number, birth date, health-card number or banking details in a résumé or early interview. See its current job-search safety guidance.

Expectations differ by country and occupation. This builder omits a photo, date of birth and marital-status field rather than treating them as global defaults. Follow the employer’s instructions and local requirements if your application context is different.

Tips for a stronger resume

  1. Put the most relevant evidence where a reviewer can find it quickly.
  2. Use consistent dates, tense, punctuation and job-title formatting.
  3. Remove vague adjectives that are not supported by an example.
  4. Proofread names, phone numbers, links and dates after every tailored edit.
  5. Send PDF only when the job posting accepts it; DraftFort does not export DOCX.

Frequently asked questions

Is this resume builder free?

Yes — completely free with no account, no sign-up, and no watermark on your resume.

Is the resume ATS-friendly?

It is designed for machine readability: one column, standard section headings and real selectable text rather than an image. No builder can guarantee how every employer's ATS will parse or score a resume, so use the plain-text check below and follow the job posting's file instructions.

Do you store my resume or personal details?

DraftFort does not receive or store them. Your resume and PDF are created in your browser. Draft saving on this device is off by default for new visitors; if you enable it, Reset removes the saved personal draft and restores the page's starting example.

Should I put a photo on my resume?

This builder deliberately omits photos. Expectations vary by country and role; for example, Canada's Job Bank says a photo is not the norm in Canada. Follow the employer's instructions and current local convention rather than assuming one rule applies worldwide.

Can I download my resume as a PDF?

Yes. You get a clean, multi-page PDF with selectable text that prints sharply. Confirm that the employer accepts PDF before submitting it.

Can I edit every part of my resume?

Yes. You can edit your summary, experience, education, skills, projects, contact details, links, and paper size while the preview updates live.

Can I download a DOCX or Word file?

No. DraftFort currently exports this resume as a selectable-text PDF only. If an employer specifically requests DOCX, follow that instruction and use a suitable document editor rather than renaming the PDF.
