Create a packing slip without exposing prices

A packing slip tells the recipient what a shipment is intended to contain. It connects the parcel to an order number, ship-to address and item quantities without presenting an invoice total. This free generator produces a clean, selectable-text PDF locally in your browser.

Enter the sender and recipient, order and packing-slip numbers, shipment date, carrier, tracking reference and package details. For every line, record the SKU, description, ordered quantity, shipped quantity and any backorder.

What belongs on an ordinary packing slip

• Sender or fulfilment business and contact details.
• Recipient and accurate ship-to address.
• Order number and a distinct packing-slip number.
• Order and shipment dates.
• Carrier, tracking number, package count and optional weight.
• SKU or item code, plain description and quantities.
• Notes, return instructions and the person who packed the order.

Unit prices, tax and payment terms are intentionally absent. Include those on an invoice or other billing document when appropriate.

Ordered, shipped and backordered

Ordered is the quantity requested in the referenced order. Shipped is what is actually in this shipment. Backordered is the quantity still due.

When Backorder is zero, the generator displays the positive difference between Ordered and Shipped. Enter an explicit backordered value when your fulfilment system uses a different result—for example, an item was cancelled rather than backordered. The calculation is a convenience, not inventory verification.

Packing slip versus invoice, purchase order and receipt

A packing slip may reference the same order number as these records, but it does not prove payment, ownership, acceptance or tax treatment.

Packing slip versus customs packing list

Some searches use “packing slip” and “packing list” interchangeably. Cross- border freight and customs workflows can require harmonized codes, origin, package-level dimensions, gross and net weights, declared values, incoterms and specific signed statements. This generator does not claim to create a customs, dangerous-goods or carrier-compliant document.

For ordinary ecommerce or business fulfilment it provides the core shipment record. For regulated or international transport, use documentation required by the carrier and relevant authorities.

How to make the packing slip

1. Enter the real sender and ship-to information.
2. Use traceable order and packing-slip numbers.
3. Add carrier and tracking details after they are assigned.
4. Copy SKUs and quantities from the actual fulfilment record.
5. Reconcile ordered, shipped and backordered quantities.
6. Add only useful return or handling instructions.
7. Download, print and compare the slip with the physical parcel.

If the shipment follows a buyer request, link the internal record to the purchase order. If documents need to travel together digitally, combine the completed PDFs with Merge PDF. Before a final sale or tax invoice exists, a seller can describe the proposed transaction with a clearly labelled Proforma Invoice.

Privacy and local processing

Recipient addresses and tracking references are sensitive operational data. DraftFort does not receive them: the form and PDF run in your browser.
