Calculate regular and overtime hours
This browser-based timesheet records an employee, reporting period and individual time entries. Each line includes a date, project or client, task description, regular hours and overtime hours. The live preview totals the hours immediately, and the generated PDF retains selectable text.
Optional hourly-rate fields can estimate a labor amount. They are deliberately blank because the correct regular and overtime rates depend on the worker’s actual agreement and applicable requirements. Leaving both rates at zero creates an hours-only timesheet without showing compensation.
What to record on each line
- The calendar date on which the work occurred.
- A project, client, work order or cost-center reference.
- A concise description of the task performed.
- Regular hours supported by the organization’s timekeeping method.
- Overtime hours only when correctly classified under the applicable rules.
Do not enter the same hours on multiple projects. Correct mistakes transparently before approval, and retain source records when required. If breaks, start/end times, location, activity codes or supervisor attestations are mandatory, use the official system or extend the record through your organization’s process.
Timesheet versus pay stub
A timesheet records time. A pay stub records earnings, deductions and net pay for a payroll period. DraftFort’s timesheet does not calculate taxes, entitlements or payroll withholding and is not evidence that wages were paid. Use the separate Pay Stub Generator only for genuine payroll records.
For freelance or client work, the billable hours calculator can turn approved hours into revenue, utilization and an effective rate without changing the underlying time record.
If the source record contains start/end times or split shifts, use the hours calculator first to deduct breaks, handle an explicit overnight boundary and export a calculation trail before transcribing the reviewed hours here.
Privacy and saved drafts
Employee names, client references and working patterns stay on your device. Draft saving is off by default. Enabling it stores the form in this browser until you disable saving, press Reset or clear site data. Protect downloaded timesheets and shared devices according to your organization’s privacy rules.
Frequently asked questions
Does the timesheet calculate total hours?
Yes. It totals regular and overtime hours separately and together. Optional regular and overtime rates can calculate a labor amount.
Does it calculate payroll taxes or legal overtime?
No. It performs arithmetic using the hours and optional rates you enter. Employers remain responsible for timekeeping, breaks, overtime classification, wages, taxes and payroll compliance.
Can I use the template outside the United States?
Yes. The labels are global, the PDF supports Letter or A4, and optional labor amounts support twelve currencies. The tool does not determine local employment rules.
Is employee time uploaded?
No. Entries and PDF generation stay in your browser. Optional draft saving is off by default.
